Your information is used to operate SafeTrace.

SafeTrace helps people send purposeful safety signals to family, friends, carers, and other trusted contacts. This policy explains what information we collect, why we need it, when emergency location can be shared, and the choices available to you.

01

Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to operate SafeTrace and deliver your chosen safety signals:

  • Account details — your name, phone number, and timezone. Your phone number is used to sign in.
  • Circle information — the names and phone numbers of members and alert recipients you add.
  • Signal activity — when a signal was due, confirmed, missed, or escalated.
  • Device information — push notification tokens and limited technical data needed to deliver notifications and keep the service reliable.
  • Emergency events — the time and status of an SOS or emergency dispatch, any note you include, and location only when the conditions below are met.
02

Emergency location sharing

SafeTrace does not continuously track or collect your location.Location is requested for an emergency event only.

When you intentionally trigger an emergency alert, SafeTrace may request your device's current location. Location is attached to that emergency event only when you have granted the app location permission and a location is available.

The emergency location may be shared with the trusted contacts selected for that alert and stored as part of the emergency dispatch record so the alert can be delivered and supported. SafeTrace does not use emergency location for advertising, profiling, or routine monitoring.

You can control location permission through your device settings. Changing that permission affects whether location can be attached to future emergency alerts.

03

How we use information

  • Authenticate your account using an SMS verification code.
  • Schedule and deliver signals, reminders, and escalation alerts.
  • Notify the trusted people you selected when an alert requires their attention.
  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability of the service.
  • Process subscriptions when you choose a paid plan.
04

Who receives information

We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising. Information is shared only as needed with:

  • Your chosen circle and alert recipients — for signal status and emergency alerts you configured.
  • Twilio — to send SMS messages and phone-call fallbacks.
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — to deliver push notifications.
  • Amazon Web Services — to host and operate the service.
  • Payment providers — the minimum information needed to process a purchase or subscription.
05

Your choices and control

You can review and update your name, circles, alert recipients, and signal schedule from inside the app. Device permissions, including emergency location access and notifications, can be changed in your phone settings.

To request access, correction, or deletion of your account data, email privacy@safetrace.io. We aim to delete or anonymise account data within 30 days unless we must retain limited information for security, legal, or operational obligations.

06

Security and retention

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. We retain information only for as long as needed to provide SafeTrace, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain service security.

07
